I went on a business trip to Seattle in October 2000 when they had a perfect Indian Summer.  I was lucky enough to get some time off from work to take advantage of the great weather.  I rented a car and drove in the Cascade Mountains.  The  awesome view from within inspired me to rent an airplane and to see it again from without.  I also did a what was supposed to be a day hike turned into an overnighter at the top of the mountain hike in the Olympic National Park.  After spending a night not sleeping under a pine tree, in the morning I watched the most gorgeous sunrise.
